Multi award winning gospel music minister, songwriter, arranger and music director, Kirk Franklin has expressed gratitude to his high school teacher today as he shares her picture and name on instagram.
Kirk revealed via the post that this teacher saved his life 30 years ago and gave him a chance to "live". He said she allowed him "escape in her classroom to write music" at a point in his life when he struggled with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Here's Kirk's caption on the photo of himself and Jewell Kelly as shared on instagram;
“This lady saved my life over 30 years ago. Her name is Jewell Kelly, my high school choir teacher. I struggled badly with ADHD and this lady, would allow me to escape in her classroom, even after the class was over, and just sit and write music....it was the only time I didn’t feel dumb or like a failure. As long as I’m alive she’ll never want for anything 🙏🏾”
