Good day our esteemed friends and welcome to another episode of Pricherman116 Blog's Exclusive Interview Session 'MIT ME'
Today, we have one of the fastest growing gospel crews in Africa 'Gospel Force', ably represented by one of them.
My name is Boluwaji and I'm your interviewer 😀. Let's meet you sir.
Our band's name is called Gospel Force, a Christian Rock band based in Lagos, Nigeria. My own name is Sultan Aladaba, I'm currently the band's leader and President of it's RockNation Music community.Gospel Force is gradually gaining grounds in the Nigerian Gospel Music Industry... Kindly take us back to the roots; how did the whole journey start?
Hnmmmmm! Journey started with a very humble beginning, Talent, Ayobamidele (past member) and I are best of friends, writing songs together and making music with our phone recorders... Lol. All these began in December 2010. With 3 of us coming with a group of singers.
6 years in the ministry, the group has evolved and experienced a lot of changes... How many of you make up G FORCE at the moment?
We're 10 members of the band namely; Sultan Aladaba, Adeyoyin Emmanuel, Otunde Aderibigbe, Victor Emmanuel, Talent Poye, Olayinka Bada, Michael Sasu, Olamide Ogundiran, Ezekiel Sunday & Kingsley Charlie. And yes! We have experienced lots of downs growing up to be matured with our music and ministerations. How did you cope through those ups and downs?
Hahaha! (laughs). We understood and still understand that the only way up is down so we were passion driven folks. The primary objective was because God called us, the secondary objective is that we need to stay together no matter what happened. Some people who started with us left and later new guys came on board. We're getting stronger day by day. Thanks to God for the blessingsApart from going about for ministrations as groups like every choral group or band starts, when did you officially venture into the music ministry? When G FORCE record it's debut single?
Gospel Force released a debut single in June 2014. The song titled "I See You". Well, basically we'll say that's when we ventured into the waves up there.
Awesome. What kind of music does the group do?
Primary Genre: Rock, Secondary: Christian Rock. How has the acceptance for your kind of music been in Nigeria? I mean, we love apala, juju, fuji and several local genres 😀. Do people listen to rock music at all?
Hahahaah! The acceptance has been enormous. Because we came with another approach to that genre without considering any fact that Rock music doesn't have a face in Nigeria. (Smiles). Since the advent of Gospel Force, the acceptance has gone wider than we expected.Glory to Jesus. What has been your greatest achievement as a team since inception?
Personally, I feel our greatest achievements are yet to come. But so far, starting up "RockNation Music" community is our greatest achievement. Is there any Christian Rock band that 'G Force' as a team look up to as role model?
Yes! Yes!... Skillet and Newsboys.
Where do you see the group in the next 5 years? The ministry.
Universal! International Christian Rock Band with the glory of God surrounding us.Amen! If you could make any musical collaboration right now, with which international and Nigerian artiste would it be?
We've had a couple of collaborations within the past one year, Eben, Ayobamidele and Eric (yet to be released). Internationally, we look forward to working with like minds... Israel Houghton, The Hillsong Church, Elevation Worship and Jesus Culture. The team being a group of 10 grown individuals with various commitments and all, how does coming together for rehearsals and all work for 'G Force'? What are the challenges you face trying to gather everyone at different times?
"Trying to Get everyone" was the challenge and that was some 5yrs back. Right now we all have centered our commitments to progress of the band. So rehearsals are not a problem. At all.The Nigerian music industry seems not to have a good structure yet but it's getting better. Then, gospel music is usually not fair treated. Some radio and TV stations find it difficult to air gospel tunes. What's your take on this? Or even interview gospel artistes. There's an ongoing revolution though.
Well... I thought Gospel music has taken it's place where it operates enormously. Because, whether the radio stations play the music or not. The songs will spread... The table has turned, we don't need Radio interviews and massive airplay to promote. As long as the music has the breathe of God upon it, it will fly.
Do you charge for ministrations?
No sir. We don't charge. It's a ministry, not a "career" music. Although we see it as our full time business. If there's one thing you could change in the Nigerian Gospel Music Industry right as we speak, what would it be?
😄😄😄... Giving a face and national recognition of Christian Rock Music and that's part of we're as we speak. That's allGreat. How do you write and songs? Is there a writer and composer for the group or everyone could come up with whatever inspiration they get?
We don't write our songs, we receive them from the spiritual realm... Lol. After receiving, fine tuning, composition and then straight to the studio for productionAwesome. Is there any project G Force is working on? Something we should be on the look for?
Yes! Currently, two major projects namely. "ON THE ROCK" Concert and "THE SINGLES" 5-track EP. The concert is proposed to hold on the 11th of December, 2016, here in Lagos. And it's an unusual meeting because it's a Christian Rock music concert. Rock Rock Rock all through. The EP release is another project we've been talking about for a while now and it's likely to be put out there before the end of 2016. That's all for now.
Wow! We're ready to be awed! Before we sign out on today's episode of MIT ME, what do you have to say to people looking up to G Force out there?
Well... To those looking up to us. Most especially the bands, let this drive you.. PASSION. Don't do anything outside the will of God. That's all.How could you be reached on social media for more information and enquiries?
