Kambua is a Kenyan Gospel artist, TV host and philanthropist who is dedicated to using her resources for God and people.
She is the second of three children of Professor Manundu and Evangelist Lois Manundu who are also the co-founders of Tabibu Ministries. She was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya.
Her childhood was fun. Unlike the lady she is today, she was a tom boy, who loved playing alongside her brothers.
While attending Kianda Primary school, she joined school choir and partook in mass activities which strengthened her religious upbringing.
She then attended secondary school at Lukenya Academy where her love for music grew as she ventured into solo performances.
Around the same time she joined her church praise and worship team and did
background vocals for top artistes like Mbuvi, Bahati and Kavutha.
In the quest for higher education, she had been applying into various universities and she finally got an invitation to the Ambrose University in Calgary, Canada to pursue music.
This gave her much needed exposure and a chance to sing alongside the legendary Angelique Kidjo in concert.
When she was done with her degree, she visited Kenya on vacation, to the realization that songs from her album ‘Nishikilie’ were doing well.
Rather than leaving what she had already started, Kambua decided to concentrate on her music career in Kenya.
In 2002, Kambua joined Eneza, a Praise Band at Parklands Baptist Church, where she served for nearly four years.
In the summer of 2007 Kambua completed a summer performance program (certificate) at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. In 2008 she completed a BA in music at Ambrose University College, in Calgary, AB- her major being classical voice.
She was awarded ‘Best Solo Vocalist’ in a competition sponsored by an Italian NGO, and run by Radio Waumini. In 2004 she sung and served with Passport Incorporated, based in Birmingham, Alabama.Through Ogopa Deejays, she began to do jingles for commercials like ‘Sunlight’ and ‘Delmonte’
She has worked as an actress for Heartstrings Ensemble in Kenya. She has also been the voice for commercials such as Delmonte, Mumias Sugar, Sunlight, KPLC and recently, Fresha Maisha Milk. Before pursuing a solo career, Kambua worked as a background vocalist for various artistes.
In 2009 Kambua received the Female Artiste of the Year Award at the annual Groove Awards, held in Nairobi, Kenya. She was also the recipient of the 2008 Afro Fusion Female Artiste of the Year award at the Kisima Awards. In the year 2011 Kambua was nominated for the East Africa Music Awards, (London), as well as the 2011 Mwafaka Awards. In 2012 she bagged the Song Writer of the Year Award in the annual Groove Awards.
In March of 2010, Kambua spread her wings by joining Royal Media as a television host on a Sunday morning show – Rauka. She has since worked as an MC at various concerts and events in Kenya as well as being a radio host on Inuka, a mid-morning gospel show aired by Hot96 fm.Her musical journey has accorded her the privilege of working with Award-winning artistes such as Daddy Owen, Jimmy Gait, and most recently Anthony Faulkner (US-Based gospel singer).
Kambua is married to Jackson Mathu and together are living in Nairobi, Kenya. She is currently living in Kenya and working as a TV host for a local gospel music show - RAUKA, on Citizen TV.
