After the saddening terror attack that unfolded at Ariana Grande's concert on the 22nd of May, which claimed several lives and left many injured, plans were made to organise a fund raising event for the victims of the incident. The fund raising concert "One Love Manchester" held on Sunday and Pop star Justin Bieber had tears in his eyes as he delivered a powerful message about God to multitudes at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
Bieber encouraged the audience to chant "love" and delivered an encouraging message of hope and holding on to one's faith in the midst of difficulties and pain;
“I'm not going to let go of hope. I'm not going to let go of love. I'm not going to let go of God. Put your hand up if you're not going to let go. God is good in the midst of the darkness. God is good in the midst of the evil. God is in the midst, no matter what's happening in the world, God is in the midst and He loves you and He's here for you.”
Bieber also thanked the crowd for having him there and encouraged people to put their hands up in the air to honor the families impacted by the horrific Manchester terror attack.
In addition to Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, Coldplay, Usher and others also performed at the event.
Katy Perry also preached love at the concert saying;
“It's not easy too alway choose love, is it? Especially in moments like this right now, it can be the most difficult thing to do. But love conquers fear, and love conquers hate. And this love that you choose will give you strength and it’s our greatest power.
So now as you stand here, all of you here and all of you watching from wherever you are, standing next to a stranger or family member, or friend, or loved one, lets’ just do this little exercise in love.
Touch the person next to you. Make human contact. Tell them. 'I love you'. Look in their eyes and say I love you! Do it! I encourage you to choose love even when it’s difficult. let no one take that away from you.”
The event raised $2.6 million over a three-hour [period], as people tuning in via livestream were encouraged to donate to the "We Love Manchester" Fund, which was created by the British Red Cross and the city council, Variety reported.
The money, which is part of a larger $12.9 million that has already been raised, will be used to help victims of the attack.
Let's all keep praying for peace everywhere in the world! ♥
